Maintenance & Grounds Technician
Part-Time
Salary Range: $20 – $26hr
Direct Report: Director of Operations and Events

involvement, and services to artists, arts organizations, educators, youth, and the general
public – RiverPlace is for everyone, bringing people together to share, inspire, nurture,
educate, and enjoy arts and culture.
Position Overview
The Maintenance and Grounds Technician is responsible for the orderly operation of the building,
building supervision, equipment monitoring, building and grounds maintenance and special event
set-ups. The Maintenance and Grounds Technician must be comfortable interacting with the
public in order to provide an excellent customer experience and will present the facility at its best
by providing overall maintenance, custodial services and grounds keeping.
Responsibilities
● Provides a safe customer-friendly experience for all users.
● As needed, assist with set up and take down for special events including banquet
tables, chairs and audio visual equipment. As part of set up duties, greet and
interact with customers, tenants and patrons to provide an excellent customer
experience.
● Ability to lift and maneuver items that weigh up to 50 pounds.
● Responsible for building supervision including: lighting, building maintenance, custodial
duties, lighting and security.
● Changing out building and gallery lights, prepping and painting gallery walls in between
exhibits.
● Partner with the Director of Operations to fulfill all monthly and annual operations testing
such as water pumps, boilers, HVAC, lift, etc.
● Maintain and manage a clean building including offices, performance hall, back of house,
gallery, offices, art room and restrooms. Check restroom supplies and stock as needed.
● Maintain cleanliness of grounds, landscaping and parking lot, including mowing. In
winter, snow removal in front of all exit doors, sidewalks, and parking lots.
● Operation and maintenance of the irrigation system.
● Ability to work independently.
● Hours may include evenings and weekends.
● Other duties as assigned.
Desired skills and qualifications
● Minimum of high school graduate or equivalent, possession of a valid driver’s
license.
● 1-2 years of building maintenance/cleaning experience.
● Grounds keeping/landscape or lawn care experience.
● Ability to work independently yet interact with the public during event set-up.
● Mechanical aptitude.
● Highly organized, personable, a team player.
● Must have a reliable personal vehicle, and manage some sustained physical activity.
● Specialty Boilers License State of MN or willingness to obtain.
