About Warroad

A: Warroad is located in northern Minnesota, just six miles south of the Canadian border, on the shores of beautiful Lake of the Woods.
A: Warroad is the only U.S. port on Lake of the Woods, known for world-class fishing, hockey history, outdoor recreation, newly opened performing arts center (RiverPlace), home of Marvin Windows headquarters and strong community spirit.
A: The city has around 1,800 residents but serves as a hub for the surrounding region. If you look at the school district population that is just shy of 6,000 residents.

A: The Warroad Visitor Center provides maps, brochures, and event details. You can also find information online through the official city and tourism websites.

A: Popular attractions include Lake of the Woods, the Warroad Heritage Center & Museum, RiverPlace, The Gardens Arena, Seven Clans Casino, Warroad River, The Shed, Marvin Welcome Center, and local shops and restaurants.
A: Options include hotels, resorts, campgrounds, and vacation rentals in and around the Warroad area.
A: If the outdoors is what you are looking for: Ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, sledding and the Riverbend Skate Path are a few great options! For Indoor activities: cheering on local sports teams, taking in a show, class or art exhibit at RiverPlace or the Folk School, as well as participating in weekly activities at local bars and restaurants! There is something for everyone!

Events & recreation

A: Favorites include Warroad’s 4th of July Celebration, fishing tournaments (Springsteel Fishing Derby & The Woods Summer Fishing Tournament), Northborn Days, & RiverPlace offers a variety of performances (plays, concerts, and other art exhibits).
A: Yes! Warroad is a hub to many trail systems that connect nearby communities as well as the Beltrami State Forest. Trails are often mixed-use and encourage residents and visitors to explore our community and surrounding area. The city also maintains five park systems which include: open green space, playgrounds, picnic areas, sports fields/courts, trails and a unique sand bottom filtered outdoor pool.
A: Warroad offers direct access to Lake of the Woods, the Warroad River, and nearby waterways for fishing, boating, and water sports. There are 2 public boat landings: The Point and Kakaygeesick Bay. There are also several resorts and local fishing guides with private access, and they can offer charter and launch services.
